· Consider the soft skills they identified as critical to their professional success.

· How are yours similar or different?

· What advice can you give on how they can further develop the soft skills they identified?

Gibson- Due to the job I have. I actually use these soft skills every day. It was hard to prioritize all of these soft skills but i sat and thought about which would come first. I started with Effective Communications because working with young males of the ages 16-18 years old like to read who you are as person and to see if you are an honest person. I always set the tone of how I speak to them, what is on the agenda for the day, let them know who is in charge, and give them direct eye contact. I also make sure I listen to their worries and concerns.

Secondly I use Problem Solving/ Critical Thinking A lot of my youth are in the system and they have real life issues. I try to think fast on ways to help them with school, jobs, placements so they can stay in the program. They are very manipulating so I have learned to use discernment for my Critical thinking skills. Thirdly, Collaborative Teamwork comes into play because my coworkers and I make sure we come together to apply the same rules. Regardless of our personalities and backgrounds. In the "Eight Ways to Build Collaborative Teams" article it mention creating a "Gift Culture ". My supervisor uses that all the time with me by showing certain paperwork she fills out or things the company have her do.

Which leads into Leadership Soft Skill. My supervisor has created this vision that allows you to see clearly and shows why you have the passion of working this field. I chose Strong Work Ethic as my last soft skill because the other four skills come as a whole, it makes all the pieces of the puzzle come together. It has made me become useful, reliable, manage my workload of paperwork and working with youth, even being more professional
