Small Group Communication (COMM 2060) Group Member Evaluation Form (40 Points)

Directions: Please award points (out of a maximum of 10 points) to each of your group members, including yourself, based on the following criteria. Please note that you must cover each of the 8 areas listed below for ALL individual group members. Your evaluation should include specific examples and explanation for what each of your fellow group members completed throughout the term and though each group member may not have many aspects of each area, this should be noted as such. Be honest as I am the only one viewing this assignment and justification for the score you provide is critical.

1. Demonstrated effective leadership skills (examples: he/she helped the group stay on track, organized meeting times and discussions)

2. Participated effectively in the group (examples: he/she attended the meetings scheduled outside of class time, was available via email

and/or phone and returned messages, was prepared for group meetings, he/ she worked within the group and not just individually)

3. Demonstrated effective listening behaviors within the group (examples: he/she listened to your ideas, he/she helped the group listen

with paraphrasing or brainstorming techniques)

4. Used language and nonverbal behavior to create a supportive group climate (examples: shared his/her ideas, feelings, and

opinions regarding the presentation, he/she treated you with respect, he/she had a positive attitude about the group assignment)

5. Resolved group conflict (examples: he/she used skills and procedures to solve problems we faced as a group, acted compromiser or

harmonizer roll for group conflict situations)

6. Applied appropriate decision making and problem solving procedures (examples: he/she suggested and lead the group in decision

making procedures – voting, DOT…)

7. Demonstrated competence in using technology (example: he/she was able to use PowerPoint and/or word processing skills to

contribute to the group project requirements)

8. Accepted the influence of gender and cultural diversity on group interaction (examples: he/she was respectful of diverse ideas or

opinions a refrained from stereotyping or generalizing based on culture or gender)
