INBOX (1 NEW EMAIL)

From: Kenneth Dodger, Vice President, Colossal Corporation

To: You

CC: Simon Barrel, Human Resources Generalist

I’ve heard nothing but good things about your work on the international task force. I’ve missed your assistance on my case work.

I’m reaching out to let you know that Colossal’s Human Resources department conducts a 10-week post-project self-evaluation of your skills. Using the same skills gap analysis file that was sent to you when you began with us, self-evaluate your project-related knowledge and skills accounting for your growth as you have worked on the other projects within our organization.

The skills gap analysis will help you identify the skill areas you have enhanced by completing the previous five projects and will reflect any changes in way you see the importance of those skills to your career success.

Complete your final skills gap analysis by the end of Week 10. Carefully follow the instructions below:

· Use the same skills gap analysis file you used at the beginning of the course to self-evaluate the knowledge and skills you gained from working with Colossal. To complete this step, use the Project 5 worksheet by clicking the appropriate tab on the bottom of the spreadsheet.

· Use the text box at the bottom of the page to write a reflection of no more than 500 words that identifies two to three skill gaps you worked to reduce over the past 10 weeks and discusses whether and how much you improved. Also reflect on the learning activities you pursued to help you develop your selected competencies.

· Submit your updated skills gap analysis to the submission folder located in the final step of this project.

We also ask you to again complete the Global Attitude Protocol (GAP) survey that you took when you initially joined us so that you can evaluate your growth in the global mindset arena.

You may recall that the survey is available, free of charge, on the website of the author, Pankaj Ghemawat: ghemawat.com.

· To locate the survey, click Teaching Materials, then click Survey. Locate the GAP survey and click Take Survey.

· Be sure to include your new Global Attitude Protocol at the top of the skills gap analysis instrument.

I’m sure you’ll be pleased with your progress. I’ve CC’d our human resources generalist on this email as well so they are informed that you have the documents to complete.

Best,

Ken

These were my Skills GAP goals when I began the class that I have to work on through the semester.

Write your reflection summary here. Use the gap analysis above to identify two to three skill gaps to work on this semester. Choose at least one from Part 1: Leadership and at least one from Part 2: Strategic Decision Making.

Part: 1: Leadership

I am able to locate and access sufficient information to investigate the issue or problem. (2.2)

There are numbers of challenges that college students face upon matriculating into high academic program. One of the challenges that I personally face is library research skills so as to locate and access information to study a problem. It is a crucial skill to have. The lack or unpreparedness of library research ability can lead to anxiety and procrastination, which may ultimately affect one's academic progress.

Futhermore, as a future leader organization, I should be able and familiarize with how to locate and accessing information so as to investigate an issue.

In order to defeat this gangrene (lack of skill), my goal is to seek assistance from tutors, librarian and instructor throughout the semester.

Part: 2: Strategic Decision Making

Analyze the impact of foreign and domestics laws on US businesses operating globally (e.g., FCPA). (7.4.2)

As a leader in today’s volatile multi global business environment, I am required understand US domestic laws, cultural beliefs and behaviors as well as other countries social, political, cultural and beliefs context.

This will be a continuing challenge for me as a future leader in this complex environment of a rapid changing regulatory demand in multinational corporations’ context. Being sensitive to people’s cultural diversity and being aware of business transactions notably bribery/corruption (FCPA) are critical aspect of due diligence when it comes to acquisition, joint venture and to avoid liability that may arise.

Throughout, the venture, I will make sure that I learn enough to be successful in this multi global business environment.
