BUS 5910 UNIT 6 DISCUSSION ASSIGNMENT (3 PAGES)
Introduction
Two common ways of characterizing the law, the legal practice, and how laws apply to business transactions is by referring to the “letter of the law” and the “spirit of the law.” An example of this is the code of ethics document used by the General Electric Company (GE). The title of GE’s business code of ethics is: The Spirit and the Letter.
The legal reading this week focuses on the letter of the law (how it operates) and the business ethics reading this week can be considered the spirit of the law (what a justice-based system would produce). The discussion forum will provide you with an opportunity to explore and self-reflect on how the issue of “whistle-blowing” fits into your society. Although this can be a difficult topic to discuss there is a wealth of learning that can be gained in this exercise
