Group Dynamics and Leadership Each One, Teach One: Presentation and Discussion Facilitation
Grade: 15 points Due Dates: Presentation due date: September 20
Discussion Facilitation: Week 8 (Week of October 15)
Learning Objectives
· To encourage learning/discovery of practitioner-focused articles related to challenges in team dynamics and HR professional leadership of teams
· To develop and polish leadership of virtual group discussion
Instructions
· The class will be divided into three groups for this assignment.
· Students will receive a list of journal articles on topics related to team dynamics and leadership.
· In week 3 each group will hold meetings to decide which group members will summarize each article from the list at the end of this assignment sheet. In this same meeting, each group will determine the outline of both presentations. Each article may be selected by one student only in each group.
· Prepare a brief summary presentation of the article you selected by providing a PowerPoint presentation (5-7 slides per article). Please upload your slides to MyCourses no later than February 18.
· In addition to the PowerPoint presentations of the selected articles, each group has to provide a group presentation and facilitate a group discussion during week 8. The presentation will focus on the growth that is needed for many organizations to get from where they currently are to the desired state as described in the articles by utilizing the Gap Analysis tool. In addition to the gap analysis, each group is required to formulate one discussion question in the discussion forum for that week. As the group that presents the gap analysis and class discussion you are responsible for facilitating the virtual group discussion for that week. Make sure you choose a question that provides sufficient content for a meaningful discussion.
Grading for this assignment will be based on:
· Effective summary of the article’s key points and conclusions
· Clear articulation of implications for HRD Practitioners in helping to shape team dynamics
· Successfully utilized gap analysis to show necessary growth for many organizations
· Development of a thought-provoking question that is relevant to team dynamics and to HRD Practitioners
· Effective facilitation of virtual discussion
· Effective style including structure, logic and fluency
· Correct grammar, mechanics and APA format for any additional references and/or citations
The same rubric that will be used for the article presentations will be used for the gap analysis presentation and discussion. The final grade for each individual is an average of both evaluations.
