Dear Abby, I envy the freedom that some of today’s women have and I wish I had some more. However, I feel the outspoken women of the 1920s are just plain wrong. To be successful, it is necessary to play along with the notion that the woman’s place is in the home. A successful woman should be feminine, even in the workplace. She should recognize that her primary interest is as a wife and a mother and that men by right should rule in public places. To achieve one’s goals, a woman should play up to the man and emphasize the goodness and purity of the woman. Sincerely, Confused in Kansas City
