-Works Cited should be centered and written at the top. Do not use bibliography, references, sources, works cited page, or works consulted…only Works Cited. Also, do not bold, underline, italicize, use quotation marks around, or change the font size of Works Cited.
-note editors with editors or edited by according to the citation model. If they are not noted, they look like authors, not editors. An editor is not an author.
-double-space the whole Works Cited page…one blank line between each line, not two. No extra wide spacing anywhere in a paper, including the heading, body, and WC page.
-The whole Works Cited page should be in Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, even the quotation marks and web addresses

-(no points off) whenever you see University or Press or University Press in a citation, abbreviate it with a U or P. Example University of California Press would be U of California P
-Database name missing or improper on the database sources… JSTOR is the database name in the example citation for number 2. JSTOR is not the name of the company that owns the database, so do not put EBSCOhost. Use the name of the specific database that you are in. Do not just type JSTOR. After the database name comes the DOI number or web address.
-DOI number or web address missing from the database citations.
-capitalize first letters of all major words in a title, even if they do not.
Unknown format…could be an anthology, edited book, work in an anthology, or a database article. It has elements of all four citations.

-citations with unknown formats or outdated formats cannot be given credit. This can happen when instructions are not followed about which citations to do, the student creates their own citation without using the book, it can happen when someone tries to cite, for example, an online anthology when an actual, meaning real, book, anthology was assigned, and/or if the citation is just randomly made up without format, has mixed formats, is just invented by guessing, or is a different format than what was assigned, for example, citing a regular web page as an article in a scholarly journal with a print version database source. Please use chapter 26 in the Handbook for Writers to create citations.
Italics for the title of the page on government sources, not quotation marks…#84 has no quotation marks and the department is not in italics.
For government citations: Italicize the title of the web page. Department name, Year. Web address. Access date. See the model #84. Government sources are not cited like regular web pages.
-no underlining on the Works Cited page. The ink color also has to be black.
Cities of publication are no longer used
-Italics for titles of books, anthologies, journal titles, web page publishers/owners, and names of databases
-quotation marks for specific titles, chapters, and article names
