Assignment Objectives:
Through this assignment, students will:

· Summarize key facts relating to simple legal situations
· Identify the law that would apply in a simple legal situation
· Describe consequences and outcomes relating to simple legal case studies
· Relate legal requirements to internal controls of other areas of business administration such as business
· Identify legal protections and risks associated with different forms of businesses and use of agents,
Assignment instructions:
Not a day passes without a news story on an issue concerning business law. Examples include court decisions and the passage of legislation in a regulatory area affecting business, corporate governance issues or liability concerns for entrepreneurs.
For this assignment, students are invited to analyse a current even relevant to the course material. The article, which can be sourced in a newspaper, business report, magazine, or authoritative website, must pertain to one or more topics covered in weeks 1 to 5 of the course. Students must:
1. Clearly and concisely summarize the article;
2. Identify, discuss and analyze the primary business law issues covered in the article, making links to all relevant secondary issues and concepts; and
3. Comment on the actions taken by the parties.
Students whose choice of issues demonstrates creativity and a deep understanding of the selected topic will score well. Please see the scoring rubric below for further information on how this assignment will be marked.
Assignment delivery format:
There is flexibility with the delivery format of the assignment, however, students must meet all assignment outcome expectations regardless of the format they choose. Examples of delivery include:
