Evaluation critique
Assignment Critique
Select a completed evaluation to critique. The Better Evaluation and American Evaluation Association websites are good starting points to find a critique. It is also useful to do a search on google in an area of interest, such as “evaluations of early childhood programs” or “Evaluation of international education initiative” to find an evaluation. Academic journals may have brief summaries but you often have to go to the funding organization or the program organization’s website to find the complete evaluation.
Write a critique of this evaluation. Your critique should be 4-6 pages double spaced, size 12 font. It should include the following:
An overview of the program
The purpose of the evaluation, including who wants the evaluation and how will the evaluation be used?
Description of the Evaluation design and a logic model describing the program and outcomes
Description of the data sources and analysis
Summary of evaluation findings
Strengths and weaknesses of the evaluation. Please incorporate information from the AEA Guiding Principles, the UNEG Quality Checklist as well as information about good rigorous research design.
Be sure and include references, including the Executive Summary and your text books as well as any other materials you incorporate in your critique
