Individual Career Plan

Start writing your introduction here (1–2 paragraphs). An effective introduction prepares the reader by identifying the purpose of the paper and providing the organization of the paper. This section should include your client’s identifying information such as age, gender, race, ethnicity, family, work status, educational background, and current educational status. Describe the presenting issue(s)of your chosen Riverbend City client. This should be a full paragraph, similar to how you would summarize a real student's or client’s issues in their case file to describe the main issues you will be addressing.

Finally, in a paragraph, apply an appropriate career counseling theory to your work with this client. Include the rationale for selecting this theory. Include scholarly literature to support your rationale.

Assessment Results

This section should focus on assessment results and information obtained during sessions with your client. Write a brief paragraph about your client’s results on the following assessments and use specific examples to illustrate your ideas. In addition, analyze the appropriateness of the inventories and assessments in relation to your client's developmental stage and profile.

In this paragraph, discuss what themes emerged from the assessment data. Describe an additional quantitative assessment that may be useful to utilize based on your client’s presenting issue(s). Use your discussion and discussion feedback from Unit 5!

In this section, present three career options for your client that align with their assessment results. Each paragraph should provide a short description of a job title including education and training required for this job, current employment trends for this career, and expected salary for this career. Use the appropriate portion of your Unit 7 discussion and discussion feedback to begin this section.

Career Plan of Action

Long-Term Goals (Use a bulleted list)

· List three goals your client would achieve within 3–5 years.

· These goals should be drawn from the client's counseling sessions as well as the results of their completed assessments, and they must be directly related to moving toward meaningful employment.

· Each goal must be specific and measurable. How will you and the client know when the goal has been met? Goal statements such as "get a job" or "be a teacher" are not specific enough. "Develop more self-worth" is not measurable.

Short-Term Goals (Use a bulleted list)

· List three goals your client would achieve in the next 3–6 months.

· These goals should be directly related to the skills the person needs to develop and the resources they will need to use to identify potential careers and take the first steps toward finding a job and reaching the long-term goals you listed above. Remember that each long-term goal has several small steps (short-term goals) leading up to it. Does the person need to learn how to write a résumé, interview for a job, identify potential employers in the community, or find a college or training program to attend, for instance?

· Each goal must be specific and measurable. How will you and the person know when the goal has been met? Statements such as "continue schooling" and "explore jobs" are too vague. "Build self-confidence" is not measurable.

Career Strategies and Interventions

In this section, highlight 2-3 counseling strategies and interventions that you will be doing in sessions with your client to help them develop the skills needed to move forward.  Include one qualitative assessment to utilize based on your client’s presenting issue(s).  Use the appropriate portion of your Unit 7 discussion and discussion feedback to begin this section.

Conclusion

Please provide a conclusion that summarizes the main ideas of your paper. When you finish writing your paper, re-read it to check for errors and make sure your ideas flow well.
