Assignment #5 - “Finding & Appling for an International Job Experiential Exercise”
Instructions:
Use an online job site to search for career opportunities overseas (international jobs) for which you, based on your experience, are currently qualified.
a) Select an international job (overseas assignment) and make a copy of the job posting/advertisement.
b) Pretend that you are applying for the job, and write a cover letter which indicates why you believe you are the appropriate candidate for the position. In “marketing” yourself to the prospective employer, your cover letter MUST include a discussion of your understanding of the pitfalls/challenges of relocating to work abroad. Obvious pitfalls/challenges maybe not knowing the language or culture. So, in addition to these, you will have to identify some other, lesser considered challenges and discuss how you would address them. Note: You, of course, should not make any negative statements in your cover letter and therefore, should not use the word “pitfalls.” You must, however, anticipate what the recruiter of the international assignment would be concerned about and must think of ways to proactively ameliorate those concerns.
c) Submit a copy of the job posting/advertisement, along with the cover letter you prepared, and your current resume (remove your home address from the resume). All of your documents (Job posting, Cover Letter, and Resume) must be submitted as a Word Document or PDF attachment directly in the “Assignments Due Here” forum on Blackboard by 4-6-2021 by 11:59 PM.
* In addition to being graded, the assignment will count as attendance for 4-6-2021
* Unauthorized late submissions and e-mailed versions will not be accepted.
* Failure to submit any of the above will result in rejection of the entire assignment. No exceptions.
* Failure to cite sources (webpage of the job ad, etc.) on a separate page will result in rejection of the entire assignment. No exceptions.
* Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, will result in a failing grade and, repeated occurrences will be reported (see syllabus).
