Coalition Meeting Plan & Advocacy Fact Sheet

Purpose of this assignment: Plan a group meeting for a TASK Specific Group (e.g. coalition) made up of community stakeholders that will have a positive impact on health and wellbeing of a particular priority population.

Specifically, you will Identify a PSE change strategy, where group work would be appropriate (e.g. raising awareness of issue experienced by population, creating a resource/ service among multiple partners, developing community capacity to address an issue, or advocating for a policy, systems or environmental change).

Some examples include:

o   Breast Feeding Policy/ Environmental supports for working mothers: Organizations; providers; advocates that support and educate on breastfeeding

o   Increase programs/ services to non-traditional students with young children: Health and Human Service office/

o   Eligibility for SNAP benefits for higher ed college students: Food security/ access to food organizations, professionals, advocates

Part 3: Health Issue Fact Sheet

Develop a 1 page (front/ back) fact sheet that describes the health issue, the desired PSE change and target population.

This document would be shared with coalition members as well as general public to explain the purpose of the coalition.

It should explicitly state why we “should care” about this issue and the PSE changes your coalition is working to achieve.

Follow guidelines on how to create an informative, credible and visually appealing document. Allow time for edits/ changes as you get feedback from others.

All sources must be cited using foot note references.
