Progress of Teamwork for Final Project
Team Approach
Team B will continue to use an organized, democratic approach toward completing all assignments for the remainder of the course. This approach facilitates a participative style that allows the team to progress with the pride that they have shaped ongoing efforts. Upon team identification, Team B conducted an opening, collaborative meeting to establish a vision and understanding of the end state. The team input during this initial meeting involved discussion of priorities of work, clarification of key tasks, and identification of concerns; the team output from the initial meeting was a refined concept of understanding for team assignments and individual responsibilities.
Upon completion of the first meeting, and with the feedback from all members, the team worked on creating a strategy to achieve the end state. The Team Captain developed an excel spreadsheet with four sheets: team task tracker, calendar, and two proposed [final paper] outline templates. The team task tracker is a consolidated spreadsheet with the points of contact for each team member (e.g., email, phone numbers), time zone location, preferred availability, as well as a detailed list of individual tasks for each assignment (see Figure 1). The calendar spreadsheet provides a visual representation of internal team and course deadlines. Finally, the two outline templates were proposed options for the final paper, based off feedback from the initial meeting. Team B collectively selected a preferred outline, which has shaped follow-on planning efforts.
Team B decided to devote planning efforts toward the final paper; this proved to be the most efficient course of action – as all preceding assignments are aligned with the context expected from the final paper. Due to team displacement across three different time zones (to include two overseas locations), our team has supplemented the course ‘chat room’ function with two additional methods of communication. ‘WhatsApp’ is a multiplatform messaging, chat, and video call application that has allowed the team to communicate amid the 13-hour time difference more conveniently. Additionally, our team has maximized use of Google Drive for file storage and synchronization services. Team members can edit [in real-time] shared products using the ‘cloud’ technology, which has enhanced the team’s ability to maintain version control of assignments as well as streamline product updates.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Team Captain, Fabian, is responsible for establishing communication methods, coordinating meetings, de-conflicting team internal concerns, facilitating assignments completion – draft Assignment 5, post templates for Assignments 5, 6, and 8 on the shared Google Drive, complete two slides of Assignment 7, develop final paper thesis statement, synchronize writing styles, and proofread and finalize all assignments for team review prior to course instructor submission. Jonalen is responsible for developing the team deadline schedule, proofreading and properly formatting all assignments in accordance with APA guidelines, drafting and posting the Assignment 7 template on the shared Google Drive, completing two slides of Assignment 7, conducting initial review and standardization of team Assignment submissions, and completing the Introduction and Conclusion content of the final paper. Paula is responsible for completing a minimum of one annotated bibliography reference, two slides for Assignment 7, three pages of the ‘Findings’ content of the final paper and conducting a review of all team assignments prior to [Team Captain] submission. Dario is responsible for completing a minimum of two annotated bibliography references, two slides for Assignment 7, three pages of the ‘Literature Review’ content of the final paper and conducting a review of all team assignments prior to [Team Captain] submission. Ishana is responsible for completing a minimum of two annotated bibliography references, two slides for Assignment 7, three pages of the ‘Recommendations’ content of the final paper and conducting a review of all team assignments prior to [Team Captain] submission.
Accomplishments
As of September 5, Team B has submitted all contributions for Assignment 6 (three days prior to the projected completion date) and is currently pending Team Captain review. Team B has concurrently been working on Assignments 7 and 8; overall completion status is currently 60 and 20 percent, respectively. Team B communicates collectively one to two times a week to discuss findings on their assigned subtopic of holacracy – these collaborations foster the shared/synchronized knowledge critical in developing a focused final paper and further promote the concept of ‘Team Learning’ within Senge’s Five Disciplines (Caldwell, 2012).
Timeline and Deadlines
Team B has established internal deadlines five days prior to all assignment course due dates (see Figure 2). All assignment content contributions should be complete on 8, 15, and 22 September for Assignments 6, 7, and 8, respectively. This allows for Jonalen and Fabian to review, proofread, standardize, and finalize assignments on 10, 17, and 24 September. The team then has three days to review and provide feedback prior to final course submission. Nevertheless, the team maintains the ability to review and edit the most up-to-date versions of all assignments on the shared Google Drive to accommodate everyone’s personal schedules.
