Here is what I did so far:

Describe effective methods you used in identifying and narrowing down to just one of the topics to further research for your Final Paper.

I will be researching poverty and income inequality. I came to my decision based on a few things: 1) The lack of resources that marginal communities 2) Previous intercultural communication and international economics class showed me that poverty and income equality is a deeper problem across the globe 3) Being a woman and African American in the U.S

The methods I used is understanding how to leverage C.R.A.A.P to better understand the use of my resources

Explain three ways you can critically analyze sources to determine if they are scholarly.

Scholarly sources should be used to support your writing because it gives your work substance and credibility. When writing, students should be able to trust the resources selected. Using scholarly sources enables you to deliver a strong convincing paper that is based on facts and not opinions. Scholarly sources should be used to state your argument with supportive references. In addition, using scholarly sources makes a great academic attribute to a paper. Lastly using scholarly sources helps with supporting your thesis statement. For example, according to Eastern Michigan University, Scholarly articles also strive to identify and discuss the merits of alternative explanations and viewpoints for the positions they espouse. (Library, Eastern Michigan University, 2021)

Summarize information from at least two scholarly journal articles from the Ashford University Library that will support your claims for your chosen topic.

The resources below will assist me to dive into the impacts poverty and income inequality has on economic growth. The resources will also show sub topics such as education, and how it is a huge factor in order for marginal countries and communities to break the cycle. Lastly these articles will share insights on how other countries are handling poverty and income inequality.

Identify the global societal issue you have chosen to research for your Final Paper, an argumentative essay, and explain why further research on this topic is important.

I will be researching poverty and income inequality. Doing a deeper dive on the importance, I came to my decision based on a few things: 1) The lack of resources that marginal communities 2) Previous intercultural communication and international economics class showed me that poverty and income equality is a deeper problem across the globe, not just the US 3) Being a woman and African American in the U.S there is an opportunity on compensation and education.

Provide a clear and concise thesis statement that includes a solution to the global societal issue.

There is a widespread poverty and income equality across the globe that has become a societal issue. Poverty and income equality has been linked to having a greater impact to our marginalized communities and countries. Both have faced ongoing challenges in policy making, education, women, and race equality, which impact on the economies surrounding us.

Explain how this global societal issue impacts a specific population.

Income inequality and poverty has a huge influence on economic growth. When human capital is compromised, based on societal issues, when there are lack of resources and tools not equally distributed. I will show that marginalized communities have gaps in the educational systems that provides the foundation and path away from poverty. Improving inequality makes our world diverse and competitive. For example, African Americans have been suppressed for decades, not given same opportunities, tools, and resources as White Americans. For decades black and brown Americans have had a disadvantage compared to other groups over time. As early as 2018, African Americans poverty rate was 20.8% and Hispanics 17.6%. The majority if Blacks household is led by single women. In 2012, over 42% of the African American household receives 42% public assistance.

Locate a peer-reviewed scholarly source and provide statistical data that you found surprising on the topic.

I found about three resources that has statistics and information that stand out: For the third resource see the attachment
