The organization that is offering the position for which I am applying is called the “Mayor’s Office of Children & Family Success. The goal of this organization is to bring together the tools of city government (convening power, policymaking authority and resources), the city’s collective love for children and the vast assets of the community to radically improve the lives of Baltimore’s children and their families.

Qualifications: Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Have one-year of experience in performing community service work and working with community organizations.

I have the one year working experience and I am currently working towards my bachelor’s degree.

Step Two: Strengths List:

Excellent Communicator: An excellent communicator is someone who is able to convey and exchange information, ideas, or news in a very eloquent or skillful way. I consider the ability of being able to excellently communicate with others to be a strength because, it is a necessary skill that is needed to succeed in various walks of life and definitely in my discourse community of Human Service Administration. At my current job where I work as a Case Manager Representative, my job tasks involve the utilization of various forms of communication to convey and exchange information with the people of the community that the organization that I work for is engaged in assisting. So, being an excellent communicator, I effectively assist every client that is directed to my office.

Accountability: Being accountable is a strength that reveals that someone is responsible and a responsible person is bound to deliver positive results whenever he or she is given a task to complete. I was raised by my parents to take responsibility for my actions so over the years, it became a part of me, so no matter where I go, I know that I am accountable for my responsibilities. At school, I am accountable for my work and I always deliver. At work where I help people who need help from the county that I work for, I am accountable to people who check my work production everyday so the strength of being accountable helps out a lot as my work is always approved for its quality because I take my work seriously as I know that I alone I’m responsible for my work production.

Excellent organizer: To be able to organize is another strength that is very important because people need to be able to organize on various levels in life in order to succeed. I am an organizer because over the years, I learned that being able to organize means you can plan ahead and stay ahead of everyone else, so that when its delivery time you are usually prepared to deliver and, in the event, a minor setback occurs, you are prepared to make adjustments. At my job for example where I serve as a human service administrator, I am responsible for organizing meetings, organizing client data, client charts etc. and because I am an excellent organizer, my work is always delivered well done and well organized.

Active listener: To be an active listener is considered a strength because so many people are so easily bored and can be distracted just like that, so they are easily lost in conversations which means they won’t be able to listen and execute instructions that are comprehensive or longer than the short duration of their attention spans. As for me, I was given tasks as a young individual growing up, that required my full attention for extended period of time so I trained myself over the years to actively listen with focus for as long as I am required to. At my job where I serve people, I communicate with them on various mediums and whenever its listening time, I have to actively listen carefully to the clients to be able to understand their needs so that I can better assist them and I always produce good results because I listen well and effectively capture their needs and direct them in the direction of help.

Adaptability: Adaptability is a strength because we live in a world that is versatile. Things are constantly changing, so one needs to be able to change with things and times to adapt to the changes or else one will easily become ineffective. I had to learn to adapt because throughout my life I observed that things were constantly changing and in order to keep up, I had to keep adapting to the changes. In my job for example where I serve the community, I talk to clients every day and if I didn’t possess the strength to adapt to the various situations that I deal with, I wouldn’t be able to successfully help some of my clients as their issues are complex and so are their attitudes, however, when I adapt, I am able get the job done successfully.

The position that I am applying for is titled “Human Services Worker I, and it requires me to have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with one-year of experience in performing community service work and working with community organizations.
