Introduction

What do students prefer to read, hardcopies vs digital books and why?
In the era of internet and technology, advancements have been made in methods of studying too. In the last decade, a shift from paper books to digital books has been observed among the students. There is a big list of reasons for this change such as easier approach, cost efficient, visually impaired, sleep problems, strain in eyes and many more. Nowadays, students also see online books as a modern way of learning and physical text books as a traditional method of studying. The objective of this research is to find out what segments of students prefer either of the books and what reasons made their preferences.

Annotation
The reading habits for learning has been changed from last few years, the young generations are getting more attracted towards digital devices. So, the demand of e-text books escalating in the market. According to this research it was analyzed that digital books are replacing the traditional way of learning that is paper formats. The research was conducted in South Africa, where iPads or tablets were distributed among students in various schools. The kay purpose of this distribution was to check the academic performance and personal growth of students for learning perspective. After getting final result the report showed that students can do fast and effective learning on electronic devices, while the previous survey showed that learning on tablets was slow method.
Consequently, the digital devices are more suitable for learning and it can be utilized for academic purpose.

In present scenario, the digital books are taking place over traditional books but according to the research conducted at UADE foundation, it was seen that individuals
are again getting habitual with traditional books. In order to analyze the current reading need of people the research was conducted by 28 researcher, in which 585 participants interviewed with in-depth survey. The participants were young in age and above the age of 50. The questionnaire was designed especially which gives the output of actual usage to formats either traditional or digital books. The final result showed that the young people gave more priority to digital books while aged people were happy with traditional books. Overall, the both formats reached at highest usage but the traditional books gained more readers than digital books.

Annotation
Reading comprehension, speed, accuracy, have been used for doing numerous research on paper book reading versus e-book reading. Macedo-Rouet (as cited in Jeong) has done research on 47 Sophomore university students and noticed that those who used to do a reading on electronic-book scored fewer marks than those who used to do a reading on paper books. It is also revealed in the research that by doing the reading on an e-book, there is a high tendency of eyes exhaustion in the user students.

Annotation
There are various reasons are found which shows why people give interact in a better way with paper books. First reason, people can consciously or subconsciously estimate their progress by seeing the length of the pages which they read. It is also found that by reading paper books people generate their emotional and sensory attachment with books which they can’t establish with e-books. There is discovered that in the U.S., almost 60% downloaded e-books are never being read.
Article 5: Advantages of preference of printed books and physical books Books vs E-books.
Both the printed books and e-books have its pros and cons, there are number of
factors for choosing the best options.
An individual can carry a small handy e-reader where ever he travels and in which whole world’s library is available and also it can be filtered easily.
Reading a paper books helps to maintain the concentration
The Guardian reported on an experiment from Norway where people were given a short story to read, few people started reading on a paper book and few read on e- book and after some time they were quizzed and the result was majority of the people who read on paper book answered correctly than the people read on a e-book, this experiment proves that paper book reading makes a person remember for long time.
Paper suits readers who has sleep problems and eye strain
Many researchers report that readers of e-books can contribute to visual fatigue, a condition marked by tired, itching and burning eyes.
E-books help the visually impaired
Readers with poor eye sight can benefit more from e-books because e-books have a bunch of options like adjusting the text size, font style, color of the text, brightness etc.
Article 6: Electronic text attracts more readers
Annotation
In a survey 91 students participated in which 45 were male and 46 were female students, they have to fulfill a General Psychology course requirement at a medium sized regional university.
All the participants completed a demographics questionnaire and answered whether they had an e-book available and what is their preference if an e-book is available. They mentioned the number of hours they study e-books per week.
Using a 9-point scale the surveyors asked few questions about the usage of computer or e-text and the comfort to the students. The result was 59.3% of the students decided to use e-book instead of paper book in their previous course.
The details of the results, 62.2% among boys prefer e-book, 56.5% among women prefer e-book.
A 2014 study published in the journal Library and information Science Research found that most of the students out of 143 10th grade students prefer using e-texts. Boys and
those who are not interested reading books also preferred e-books instead of paper books.

Annotation
According to “Joshua Bolkan” states that most of the people likely to go with traditional textbooks than E-books. The reason for this is they are available at cheaper cost, traditional books are good at conveying matter, reading in computer throughout the day will create stress, students like highlighting sentences and reading in textbooks senses highly pleasurable. E-text is not affordable by every student so it is difficult to share information.
Article 8: Printed books vs E-books: Are there educational issues?

“Stephen Abram” the author of the article clearly explains the pros and cons of printed books and E-books in educational institutions. Printed books are easier to read, good at looking, you can also sell it for second hand or else you can buy it from second user. By keeping dog -ears at the corner of the pages help you to go through the important topics at the time of exams. Whereas E-textbooks can be used as dictionary, for citations and you can share your homework directly through digital textbooks via social networks.

The purpose of the article is to present a wide-ranging assessment of user consummation and usability concerns along with a survey of 81 graduate students owing different eBook readers like: Amazon Kindle, Apple iPad, Barnes & Noble's Nook, Borders' kobo reader and Sony Digital Reader. After all from the survey the author got a chance to know that Amazon kindle is the commonly used one, the main reason for this is the portability of the device as well as the several files on a single reader and the common issue found in this is the respondents did not esteem non-roman content support or color display.

Annotation
This article is all about finding an easy and accessible device for the second- generation e book readers. This includes selection of the e book readers and evaluating the user experience and modern technology which helps to find an explanation. The experiment was done among a group of masters students of
information and library studies, they are provided with a task for the e-book readers with a bunch of questionnaire and a device which helped them to sort out the problems and the experience of using e-book devices.as the survey and the discussions are finished helped them to evaluate the devices and the updates of the e-book devices. The findings included some of the basic specifications like screen size, weight and the quality were been identified as a drawback for the readers’ and ought to find a better device or familiar device that they are currently using.

5. Do you think the shift from traditional books to e-books should be reversed? If yes, then explain why?
6. Which age group do you belong to? 18 or 50 above?
7. What is main reason for your preference? Briefly explain.
8. Does your country of origin follows the same method presenting the textbooks? If no, what is it?
