Assignment 2 – What I Need to Do

This assignment is an extension of  Assignment 1. I will use my first paper as a starting point, but I need to expand the literature review and provide a deeper analysis of the strategies.

Paper Structure

Introduction

· State the purpose of the paper.

· List the  three effective strategies and the  three ineffective strategies that will be discussed.

Effective Strategies

I can use the same three evidence-based practices from Assignment 1:

· Explicit Instruction

· Progress Monitoring

· Peer-Assisted Learning Strategies (PALS)

For  each strategy, I need to include:

Strategy One

· Describe the strategy.

· Explain how it works.

Literature Review

· Provide a more detailed review of the professional literature.

· Explain how research has demonstrated the strategy's effectiveness.

· Support the discussion with current peer-reviewed sources.

Impediments to Their Use

Discuss challenges that may prevent teachers from implementing the strategy successfully.

Examples include:

· Limited teacher training

· Lack of planning time

· Large class sizes

· Limited resources

· Poor implementation fidelity

(Repeat the same format for Strategies Two and Three.)

Ineffective Strategies

Select  three instructional strategies or practices that research has shown to be ineffective.

For each strategy, include:

Strategy One

· Describe the strategy.

· Explain how it is used.

Literature Review

· Explain why research has shown the strategy to be ineffective.

· Discuss whether the strategy is based on poor instructional practices or flawed theoretical assumptions.

Why Teachers Used It

· Explain why teachers used this strategy in the past.

· Discuss whether it is still used today and why.

(Repeat the same format for Strategies Two and Three.)

Possible examples include:

· Round-Robin Reading

· Learning Styles

· Grade Retention

Conclusion

Summarize the importance of using evidence-based practices and avoiding instructional strategies that are not supported by research.

Important Reminders

· Maximum of  five pages (plus title page and references).

· APA 7th edition.

· No first-person language.

· No direct quotations.

· Use formal academic language.

· Support every major statement with citations.

· Use references published within the last  20 years.

· Expand the literature review compared to Assignment 1.

📌 Reference I Need to Fix from Assignment 1

The reference that needs to be replaced is:

Quince, Z., & Nikolic, S. (2026). Student identification of the social, economic and environmental implications of using Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI): Identifying student ethical awareness of ChatGPT from a scaffolded multi-stage assessment. European Journal of Engineering Education.

This article is about  ChatGPT and Generative AInot Explicit Instruction. It does not support the discussion of Explicit Instruction and should be replaced with a peer-reviewed article that specifically examines the effectiveness of Explicit Instruction.

I recommend replacing it with a recent peer-reviewed study on Explicit Instruction from journals such as:

· Learning Disability Quarterly

· Journal of Learning Disabilities

· Exceptional Children

· Teaching Exceptional Children

· Remedial and Special Education

This change will make Assignment 1 stronger and provide a better foundation for Assignment 2.
