Article Annotation, Summary and Analysis (15%)

Task: This assignment requires you to critically Annotate the assigned article and use this information to write a ONE paragraph Summary paragraph, TWO paragraphs that identify the author’s main Purpose and Target Audience and ONE short Reflection paragraph. Use APA in-text citations and generate a reference list.
Length and Format: 4-5 Pages (12-point, double-spaced font)
Instructions
1. Use the Critical Reading methods and techniques discussed in-class (refer to the Week 2 Slides) to identify and annotate (i.e. highlight, imbedded notes) the publishing information, major topics and arguments in the provided article.
2. Summary- ONE Paragraph that:

3. Create TWO Critical Analysis paragraphs that:
a) Purpose: Identifies the author’s primary purpose (i.e. PIES) and provides evidence from the reading and your analysis to justify your assertion.
b) Target Audience: Identifies the author’s target audience and uses evidence from the article and your analysis to explain your answer. Note: your answer must identity specific characteristics (i.e. age, occupation, gender etc.) not just ‘Everyone’ or ‘Anyone’
4. APA Reference + Citation
Throughout the Critical Analysis paragraphs use in-text citations to identity supporting evidence. Use the article’s publishing information to generate an APA formatted Reference.
5. Write a short reflection paragraph that answers ONE of the following questions:
i. How do you feel about this piece of work? Did you encounter any difficulties when using this text to engage with the issue? How did you overcome them/what resources and/or strategies did you use while working on this piece? How did they help you?
ii. How much did you know about the subject before encountering this piece? What parts did you like/dislike? How did the piece affect your understanding/perspective on the issue?
iii. Given the provided information, has your perspective on the issue changed? Which parts of the piece did you find compelling/questionable? Why? How (if at all) could this information affect your approach to such issues in the present/future?
Submission: Submit both the Annotated Article AND Four paragraphs for grading through Blackboard.
