Organizational Issues and Solutions
In the modern business world, organizations are faced with a lot of challenges that often affect the way many organizations operate. Understanding all the organizational aspects is very crucial in ensuring maximum satisfaction of clients (Huczynsk et al. 2013). Human resource managers are challenged to provide competent employees to the organization who can work under any circumstances and improve productivity. Having adequate knowledge on the company`s background is very important to ensure that the consultant provides quality advice to the company by focusing on human behavior.
Background Information and Problem Identification
American Airlines (AA) is the largest world international airlines that serve clients to several destinations. The company headquarters is in Fort Worth, Texas. The company is usually scheduled for longer passenger destinations, wider fleet sizes and generates a large amount of revenue. American airlines, therefore, has constant pressure to ensure that it's employees are providing excellent service to its clients all the time. As the consultant, focusing on AA Social Psychology, it is significant in identifying the company`s strength and weakness to provide the most suitable solution for the given problems.
Human interaction is very important in any given organization. Teamwork is essential in the organization; therefore, the company should ensure that group interactions are effective and given priority for improving productivity in the organization. Social psychology enables the manager to gather copious amounts of information internally and externally hence the ability to adopt a workable solution. Compared to other forms of psychology, social psychology is paramount in exposing the diversity that exists in the organization. A company might have the best structure, the best organizational culture and competent employees with good decision-making capabilities but, still, fail because of a lack of diversification.
The ability of employees to work as a team is essential in ensuring that the company`s structure and policies function smoothly. All group members should be on the same page and work hard towards realizing organizational goals.
Current Corporate Culture
Establishing a good corporate culture is an aspect that most companies struggle with. Most leaders understand it's importance, therefore, it is always geared towards ensuring that the organization has functional groups to ensure continuous success. Focusing on American Airlines, unfriendly competition might be a result of the recent lack of teamwork in the company, although competition is meant to be a good sign of a company`s growth. On the contrary, some employees desire to shine individually, hence developing unhealthy habits to achieve this desire. Focusing on profits is another culture that American Airlines have established over the past years. This has resulted in a lack of motivation for employees since the company is focused on increased profits and forgotten to recognize its employees who work hard to ensure the company is successful.
Areas of Weakness
1. Inadequate internal communication
2. Minimal office engagement
3. Employee reward and recognition
Solution
1. Communication is the key to success of any organization. The company should ensure there is free and open communication at all levels of the organization.
2. Engaging in employee activities outside the office for example birthday celebrations and weddings (Rice 2013). Organizing team building activities to increase motivation.
3. Annual awards banquet to recognize the Best of the Best at American Airlines.
