ASSIGNMENT 1
In many times, people face challenging experiences in the event of the natural processes of the environment. During extremely cold seasons, it snows in most times and people often get cold from the low temperatures that are experienced. At times snow forms up across roads and pathways such that people experience difficulties in moving from one place to the other. As a result, people have to seek for ways to survive through the snow by finding means to move from one place to another and to move without getting their feet numb of the cold snow. Snowy roads and pathways also make people overly uncomfortable as their feet get cold and they are forced to move quite slowly. People often go through different encounters with snowed days. Some have to drive on dangerously slippery roads, some have to stay at home because of blocked driveways while others experience the blowing and shoveling snow. I chose to focus on the experiences that people encounter during snow to see how hard they could be to cope up as well as see ways in which they could be made easier.
I have witnessed people stopped from doing their important day to day activities by snow covering every place. As a result, I couldn’t help wondering how the people get to solve the challenges that they face in the event of a snow season. I was trying to figure out how people could move to places they need to be when it’s snowing without having to slide, fall on some occasions, and without having their feet getting numb as they walk through the snow (Moncrease, 2016). Although I also tried to figure out how people could deal with blocked pathways, driveways as well as doors locking them in their houses, I chose to focus on how people could move from one place to another through the snow. Of more concern trying to figure out how to get to a place, one needs to be that figuring out how to get outside one’s house. When one is locked in their house, they could not in much need of leaving the houses as they are usually warmer than the outside environment. People who are outside the house, tend to be in more need to get to places as the outside is usually colder.
On solving the problems that are brought along by snowed days, people could, for instance, use snow boots to enable them to move across the snowed grounds (Ewing, 2015). Snow boots enable people to move across snow without having to stick into the snow or having their feet get numb of coldness. At times, people might prefer to use the winter boot to walk through snowed grounds. However, winter boots cannot serve the purpose of a snow boot. Just like their names suggest, winter boots and snow boots have different functions that they are tailored to perform. Each of the types of weather boots performs only the function it has been designed for best in a way that cannot be compared to the others. Although both types of boots are designed in a way that they keep a person’s feet warm, they do not have the same ability to perform the task which makes each only best suitable for its specific purpose (Ewing, 2015).
Snow boots, however, effective in walking through snow tend to be heavy and bulkier than other boots. The winter boot, for instance, is smaller in size than the snow boot but can also not perform the tasks that the snow boot performs. Snow boots also require people to wear a proper combination of socks to avoid suppressing their feet making them unable to breathe. Apart from being used to walk in the snow, snow boots can also be used by people who work in muddy places, Farmers and ranchers also find use in snow boots at some times of the year when they have to deal with extremely muddy areas.
A snow boot is best designed to serve a person through the conditions of snow. A winter boot, on the other hand, is designed to serve its users through cold environments, keep its users’ feet warm among others. Both types of boots are designed in a way that each can be used in place for the other. However, none of the boots can perform each other’s functions as well as their own. Although the snow boot appears more powerful than the winter boot, it can rarely be preferred during winter as it is far much heavier than the winter boot. The winter boot, on the other hand, is more comfortable and light but cannot protect a person from snow as well as the snow boot does (Mountain Warehouse, 2015). It cannot maintain enough temperatures for one to walk through snow and does not have sufficient height to prevent snow and mud from getting into the boot.
It can be said that the target population of the snow boot are those people living in snowed places, as well as those who experience snow at some times of the yearly seasons. Farmers and ranchers can also make use of the snow boot when tending to their farms that are covered in the mud under a cold weather. Just like the snow, the boots prevent mud from getting in and helps to maintain a comfortable temperature in the shoe. The rubber bottom also enables the users to walk through a swampy field without water slipping into the boots. Some of the most known brands of snow boots include the Sorel Boots and Baffin Boots. The two brands of snow boots can be referred to as the best quality snow boots in the industry. Winter boots, on the other hand, have the most recent brand, Ugg boots being the most preferred in the industry. The Crocs brand of winter boots is also more preferred than most winter boot brands.
