New technologies tend to spark moral panics. Basically, the belief that the technology will somehow change us and/or society for the worse. I have attached an article about the UK passing the Video Recordings Act in response to the fear of VHS tapes and “video nasties.” I want you to find an article about how people feared a new technology would change us.

For this assignment:

· Find an article about a past moral panic in regard to a media technology pre-internet (past - 1995).

· Find an article about a moral panic from a post-internet (1995 - present) media tech that features the same fear.

· Summarize each article in a paragraph or two. Make sure to include links to the articles.

· In your summaries, make sure you address whether the authors are taking a technological deterministic or a social construction approach to the tech?

· In your summaries, make sure you write down any moral obligations the authors put forth.
