TASK 1: This is a required assignment worth 15 points (15-points/1000-points). Assignment must be submitted by the due date. No late assignments are allowed. Please discuss the following topics and provide substantive comments to at least two other posts. Select from the following list four (4) topics and discuss. Use only 50-words max per topic to discuss and present your answer. The discussion questions this week are from Chapter's 16-18 (Jamsa, 2013). Chapter 16 topics: Q) Define and describe total cost of ownership. List at least 10 items to consider when determining a data center’s total cost of ownership. Q) Define and describe a capital expense. How are capital expenses different from operational expenses? Q) Define and describe economies of scale and provide a cloud-based example. Q) Define and describe “right sizing” as it pertains to cloud computing. Q) Define Moore’s law and discus how it might influence cloud migration. Q) Given company revenues of $2.5 million and expenses of $2.1 million, calculate the company’s profit and profit margin. Chapter 17 topics: Q) Compare and contrast functional and nonfunctional requirements and provide an example of each. Q) Discuss why a designer should avoid selecting an implementation platform for as long as possible during the design process. Q) Discuss various trade-offs a designer may need to make with respect to nonfunctional requirements. Need Three References. TASK 2: For this project, select an organization that has leveraged Cloud Computing technologies in an attempt to improve profitability or to give them a competitive advantage. Research the organization to understand the challenges that they faced and how they intended to use Cloud Computing to overcome their challenges. The paper should include the following sections each called out with a header. Company Overview: The section should include the company name, the industry they are in and a general overview of the organization. Challenges: Discuss the challenges the organization had that limited their profitability and/or competitiveness and how they planned to leverage Cloud Computing to overcome their challenges. Solution: Describe the organization’s Cloud Computing implementation and the benefits they realized from the implementation. What was the result of implementing Cloud Computing? Did they meet their objectives for fall short? Conclusion: Summarize the most important ideas from the paper and also make recommendations or how they might have achieved even greater success. Requirements: The paper must adhere to APA guidelines including Title and Reference pages. There should be at least three scholarly sources listed on the reference page. Each source should be cited in the body of the paper to give credit where due. Per APA, the paper should use a 12-point Time New Roman font, should be double spaced throughout, and the first sentence of each paragraph should be indented .5 inches. TASK 3: Refer back to homework assignment 2, in week 3. Homework assignment 2 asked you to find a data set and perform some manipulations using R. For this assignment, you can use that same dataset, or select a new one of your choosing and use Tableau to create a visualization. The assignment requirements are: Go to Tableau.com and download a free trial version of Tableau Use Tableau to create an appropriate visualization for the dataset you selected for homework assignment 2, or another dataset of your choosing. Provide screenshots showing your steps in Tableau (at least 3) Q) Explain how your visualization meets the criteria of being Trustworthy, Accessible, and Elegant (1-3 paragraphs) Q) Explain the story that your visualization should be telling to the viewer (1-3 paragraphs) Q) Compare and contrast your experiences using R versus Tableau. The process of identifying the most effective and appropriate solution for representing our data is unquestionably the most important feature of our visualization design. Working on this layer involves making decisions that cut across the artistic and scientific foundations of the field. Here we find ourselves face-to-face with the demands of achieving that ideal harmony of form and function that was outlined in Chapter 6, Data Representation. We need to achieve the elegance of a design that aesthetically suits our intent and the functional behavior required to fulfill the effective imparting of information. According to Kirk 2016, in order to dissect the importance of data representation, we are going to "look at it from both theoretical and pragmatic perspectives." Choose three of the storytelling/visualization techniques (Pages 140-188) in which data is presented and stories are being interpreted.
