Response to School Shooting

Educational Leaders have to be prepared not only to deal with crisis situations, but to communicate their decisions to the school community. Such responses can sometimes trigger a variety of responses from the community who may have their own opinions regarding how such situations should be handled.

This topic may trigger opposing and/ or passionate arguments. In this discussion you are asked to be respectful of the opinions of your classmates. If you feel the need to disagree, do so respectfully and acknowledge the valid points in your classmate's argument. Acknowledge that others are entitled to have their own perspective on the issue.

○ How might the school/ school system have responded differently? ○ Was it appropriate for the superintendent to speak out on behalf of

the principal? Why or why not? ○ Any other thoughts after reading this article.
