Write a 1 ½ - 2 page Process Essay

Select whether your essay will be explanatory or instructional.

Use a topic or process unique to you or your chosen field of study or an area of interest.

Do not write on simplistic processes such as cooking, baking, or changing oil.

Avoid using contractions.

Follow below guidelines when revising your essay

Process revision

Organization

· Process is chronologically ordered

· Does not use numbers, bullets, hash marks, or visuals

· Uses correct transitions—does not use Step 1, Step 2, or Step 3—you may use versions of these, but do not order the steps as you would in a rigid outline

· Uses imperative voice throughout: Mix ingredients thoroughly (subject “you” is understood).

· Names the equipment needed at the beginning

· One step must stand out

· Includes a special warning(s)

Tone

· Professional or narrative tone

· Employ concise, informative language

· Write out contractions

· Avoid vernacular words, phrases, and expressions (a lot, get, thing, stuff)

Grammar / punctuation

· Make sure all sentences are complete: no fragments, splices, or fused sentences

· Check for correct comma placement (especially introductory words or phrases and between independent clauses)

Documentation (optional)

· If using citations, they must be properly constructed and accompanied with a properly formatted Works Cited page

· Double check your in-text citation(s) and Works Cited page
