Discussion: Standard Nursing Terminology Identification Challenge

Review the required readings related to the use, importance and current state of standard nursing terminologies. Select one of the standard terminologies listed on pages 128-129 of the McGonigle & Mastrian textbook and conduct additional research to learn more about it.

In your initial post, without mentioning the name of your chosen terminology, provide your colleagues with clues to help them identify the terminology. Include the following information:

· What is the purpose of the terminology?

· How is the terminology currently being used?

· How does the terminology enable the sharing of data across systems (i.e., interoperability)?

· What are the key challenges to implementation and sustainability of the terminology?

For your response, your challenge is to identify the terminology described by one of your colleagues. Be sure to choose a post that has not yet been responded to. Do not respond to more than one person so that everyone has a post to respond to.

Once a colleague has attempted to identify your terminology, please post a response identifying the terminology to confirm or correct the guess.
