Sermon Review Assignment
2. Write a two-page double spaced response for each sermon that includes the following elements.
a. What was the central theme that sermon?
b. What was the central passage the speaker developed?
c. What was his thesis or the point of his message?
d. Do you believe that the speaker clearly articulated and made his case for the thesis he was trying to persuade the audience to believe? If so, then provide me your reasoning. If he did not successfully present his case, then why do you think he failed to do so?
e. If you had to choose one “Big Idea” from the sermon, what would it be? Present this in a clearly written paragraph including Scripture references.
N.B. (meaning: pay special attention), the assigning of credit is not guaranteed by simply completing this assignment. Credits will be assigned once the Campus Pastor has reviewed your work and found it to be satisfactory. First, be aware that two double spaced pages means two full double spaced pages. That is a minimum word count of 600 words. This is the minimum. Second, all the elements outlined above for single credit must be addressed. Failure to do so would eliminate you from the opportunity of receiving chapel credit. There are no rewrites or make-ups. This is your only opportunity.
