A head-on crash early Friday morning near Waterloo sent three people to the hospital. Police were called to the accident on New York State Route 156 near Fountain Creek Ridge Lane at 1:18 a.m., according to Trooper Doug Hays.

There, he said, officers discovered a man driving a Honda convertible crossed over the center lane and crashed head-on with a Ford Escape traveling west. The driver of the Honda, Harry Houdini, was intoxicated and taken to The Big Hospital in Ithaca, New York, Hays said. His passenger, a woman, Henrietta Houdini was flown to Syracuse Hospital where she underwent surgery Friday morning. Both Houdinis are from Pennsylvania, it was learned.

The driver of the Ford Escape, Really Smashedup was taken to a hospital, where he also underwent surgery. Smashedup is a resident of Ithaca, New York.

“They called in the reconstruction team,” Hays said, adding that road troopers usually handle accident investigations unless those accidents require extensive investigation such as this one.

Fast forward (no pun intended) to three years later. Assume that Really Smashedup is suing Harry Houdini under the tort of negligence for over $1 million in damages he incurred from medical bills.
