A) Short Answers (10 points each):

1. In MR Credit 1, 1.2, and1.3: Building Reuse, a certain percentage of the existing building and

the interior non-structural elements must be reused. If the addition is a 25,000 sq. ft. warehouse

being added to an existing 12,000 sq. ft. building, and the entire existing building is being

reused, will this credit point be achieved?

2. MR Credits 3.1 and 3.2: Materials Reuse, specify that at least 5% of permanently installed

materials must be reused for the first point and 10% to achieve the second point. If Company

XYZ reused existing materials that would cost $80,000, and the total cost of materials for the

project was $250,000, were they able to achieve either of these credits?

3. What is the difference between pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content? Give an

example of each.

4. A building owner wants to achieve MR Credits 5.1 and 5.2: Regional Materials, and bamboo

cabinetry and furniture being used are all manufactured within a 500 mile radius; however, the

bamboo itself comes from beyond that limit. How would you calculate this?
