Information technology experts use Virtual Reality to create a digital world based on a real-world environment. As such, virtual reality can best be described as an immersive multimedia. Experts use the VR technology to develop an interactive sensory experience through touch, sight, taste, and smell. As much as virtual reality has been majorly utilized in science fiction, a better part of the technology has barely been attainable owing to the limited resources. However, this technology has recently been utilized to create factual aspects derived from a fictious environment. Because the VR has been gradually perfected over time, it has reached a level where is plays a major role to the human perception of the business environment.
Needless to say, virtual reality plays a major role in almost every aspect of human lives. It has been designed with features that relate to different professionals ranging from architecture, business, to gaming. Virtual reality has the characteristics of a machine because it is designed to make work easier. This technology converts complex task into easy tasks by reducing the efforts put into achieving a specific objective (Teras and Raghunathan, 2015). The future of this technology is aimed at further reduction of human efforts despite being a fad in technology in the present time because it is deprived of maturity.
The idea of virtual reality technology started from way back in the 1950’s. However, the idea was made a reality at least 4 years ago. Before this technology was made accessible to the world, it was being used for military applications and space exploration and was unavailable in the mainstream environment. In the year 2014, Oculus, an established virtual reality company was acquired by Facebook, a move that impacted the role that VR would have had on human lifestyle. The $2 million acquisition of Oculus can potentially revolutionize the manner in which social media platforms are being used. Facebook has designed a program where users can not only view pictures of the past events, but virtually attend to them remotely through virtual reality. Most of the mentioned virtual reality are still under development while some have come to pass and have contributed to online socialization. Other than the social media, virtual reality has become beneficial to other sectors such as the business and healthcare. Through the utilization of virtual reality, medical experts can virtually attend to patients. This technology has reinforced the health and well-being of individuals as it allows them to play sports such as basketball and drag race via a virtual reality environment. This technology has enabled disabled persons to achieve mental satisfaction by engaging in virtual activities that they could not take part in physically (Tussyadiah, 2018). Furthermore, patients subscribed to psychotherapy sessions can use virtual reality services to confront their past experiences through a virtual world without worrying about the opinions of their therapists or physicians.
Furthermore, architectures can use the virtual reality technology to design their projects. With the use of virtual reality, architectures can access a 3D morel of the design, an aspect that can majorly contribute efforts to improvise their projects prior to actual construction. Similarly, fashion designers can use virtual reality to alter their connection between different virtual models prior to mass production of the intended products. From the earlier explanation, virtual reality is utilized by the military to train prospective military men on how to react to different situations. Through virtual reality training, military personnel acquire skills on how to confront real life- or life-threatening situations. While virtual reality can be utilized for productivity purposes, it can also be used for recreational and relaxation purposes (Tussyadiah, 2018). Through virtual reality, individuals can play their favorite computer games or assume their favorite rime in a show or a film. Virtual reality is designed with systems that enable the user to experience physical sensations such as boat rocking during a fishing escapade. The main objectives of these sensations are to boost individual’s mental and physical status during the VR experience.
Needless to say, there is a difference on the perception of a business analyst and a technologist with regards to the aspects of virtual reality. The two share differences based on their perception of technological revolution of the virtual reality. As such, technologists consider the aspect of virtual reality as a path towards technological revolution owing to the efficiency and effectiveness of this technology. On the other hand, business analysts consider virtual reality as a platform that gives them access to profitability and productivity based on the industry in question. Below are some of the benefits that virtual reality has in businesses.
· Through the virtual reality technology, business can effectively run without being supervised. With the VR in place, businesses will be in a position to execute client communication and interaction even in the absence of relevant personnel. Organizations can set in place virtual offices with features that promote interactive communication with clients. Implementation of virtual reality in business environments will reduce the cost of hiring customer service in turn lowering the cost of hiring employees (Tussyadiah, 2018). Also, virtual reality technology can be used as a substitute for customer relations personnel, a choice that is financially manageable by startup companies.
· Also, virtual reality technology can be utilized by organizations to interview prospective employees. Virtual reality interviews are possible because both parties can conduct the interview from the ease of personal space while at the same time upholding the life-like aspect.
· Lastly, virtual reality is beneficial because it gives the user a better experience. rather than interacting with a computer-generated interface, VR users are able to conduct a face-to face communication via the virtual reality application. As such, users get to experience over-the-top services, while the business gets to benefits from their services.
In this case every business should set measures to attract clients while at the same time giving them value for their money. The use of virtual reality can either add or take away from that. It means that customers can use virtual reality to try out new products even though it may fail to upsurge convergence significantly. Needless to say, businesses might be required to adopt argumentative reality as long as they have to invest in advanced technology (Teras and Raghunathan, 2015). Through argumentative technology, businesses will be in a position to use computer generated sensory inputs such as GPS, videos, or sounds to create a physical environment.
In sum, humans have achieved a commendable milestone over the past few years with regards to the implementation of the virtual reality technology. Sooner than later, the virtual reality technology may evolve to become a part and parcel of human lifestyle especially in the business and medical industries. It is necessary for every existing organization to invest in the virtual reality technology if they want to retain a competitive position in the near future.
