APA FORMAT INSTRUCTOR WILL USE TURN -IT
The Body of Text will start with the page number 1. • Indent 1⁄2” for each new paragraph, the default on most word processors. • Text is to be double-spaced
• For headings and subheadings, follow current APA style as described in sections 2.13, 3.02-3.03, and 5.13 of the APA manual. • Use a “page break” to start on a new page; use a “section break” if you need to change the orientation of a page within the document. (Click on down arrow next to shortcut bar, select “More Commands” and add the “Insert Page and Section Breaks” to your shortcuts.)
The References list will start on a new page after the main body (use a page break, if necessary); pagination should be continuous throughout the main body and the References section. The title is to be centered at the top of the page on the first available line (as shown below). The ensuing instructions show how each item will look with a hanging indent.
References
For each entry, use a hanging indent and single-spacing. To format for a hanging indent in MS Word, highlight the text, click on “Paragraph,” and on the “Indents and Spacing” page, choose “Hanging” under “Special.” Double-space entries.
References are listed in alphabetical order and follow the current APA format. The hanging indent looks like these two instruction items. Appendix/appendices pages start on a new page following the References list (see section 2.13 in the APA manual for additional information about appendices)
Note: Follow APA guidelines for any aspect of style that is not specifically addressed in this document or in your syllabus.
ASSIGNMENT ONE – LEADERSHIP SKILLS
Hughes, Ginnett, and Curphy (2022) textbook covers the various skills leaders need to develop to be effective. Each student will choose a Leadership Skill that he or she would like to improve and implement it for two weeks. Write a 5-page report (less than 5 pages will not be accepted). First, you will research the leadership skill and write a minimum of 1 page presenting the literature of the skill. Next, you will provide a rationale for choosing to work on this particular skill, the plan to improve yourself in this area, your efforts over at least a 2-week period of time to build skills in this area, your results, and your expectations of using this skill in the future. A minimum of 4 scholarly references should be included to indicate the research.
REMEMBER THIS IS THE CHOOSEN LEADERSHIP SKILL FROM PREVIOUS DISCUSSION!
Positivity is my chosen leadership skill for my skill-building assignment. I believe that positivity is the most essential skill that leaders should possess and one that complements other leadership traits. Strong leaders should have an optimistic outlook and thinking. An effective and positive leader can easily interact with different people despite their varying capabilities, backgrounds, and shortcomings. Positivity allows leaders to focus on the strengths of the team more than their weaknesses. This demonstrates a high-level acceptance and encourages team members to be more productive and committed to their work. Positivity allows leaders to not only highlight the flaws in projects or processes but also develop alternative solutions. Positivity brings forth innovative and creative ideas to solve problems and also achieve goals effectively. Positivity encourages forward-thinking, teamwork, and risk-taking. Positive leadership will encourage employees’ development, integrity, and self-awareness.
As a leader, I will develop positivity through showing appreciation for small and big achievements and wins. I will invest in nurturing a deep sense of positivity and appreciation for the employees through giving positive feedback and awards. I will also learn to communicate negative feedback and motivate employees to improve their performances. I will develop positivity among team members by encouraging teamwork, engaging all members in team projects, and encouraging them to participate in decision-making. This will boost the morale and commitment of the team members to achieving the desired goals. I will embrace flexibility and openness to adjust to changes when the need arises. I will also develop problem-solving skills and resilience to ensure I am optimistic and calm in difficult times.
