Create a 5- to 6-slide PowerPoint presentation that can be used in a staff development meeting on presenting different approaches for implementing the stepwise approach for asthma treatment. Be sure to address the following:

· Describe long-term control and quick relief treatment options for the asthma patient from your practice as well as the impact these drugs might have on your patient.

· Explain the stepwise approach to asthma treatment and management for your patient.

· Explain how stepwise management assists health care providers and patients in gaining and maintaining control of the disease. Be specific.

·

please read the teacher's instructions, to correctly develop the work

I would also like you to start making dosing recommendations in all of your responses were applicable (i.e.   acetaminophen (Tylenol) 650 mg PO q 6 hours).  Remember, if you are making a medication recommendation, please have at least 3 sentences and provide a reference as to why you think the recommendation is the best for the patient.

Please remember to keep including primary literature and discussion of how the medications work.   This will allow you to be able to explain to patients the necessity of the medications you prescribe.

Week 3 begins the respiratory system    This week please gain a better understanding of the role of medications in the treatment of asthma, COPD, etc (rescue, maintenance).  Also, focus on the role cigarettes can play in the pharmacodynamics of medications.

For the application, please remember to discuss stepwise therapy with asthma and what recommendations there are.  Of note, the application is not a paper this week.   You will create a 5-6 PowerPoint slide deck on stepwise management of asthma.    The NLH guidelines for asthma are a good reference.  Please make sure your PowerPoints are bulleted and do not make each bullet a paragraph.  Students have asked about putting information in the notes section and that is fine as well however I will not grade this portion.

Please use primary research and references rather than patient webpages. Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, etc is not a scholarly resource.

Please make sure to include an in-text citation for all non-original assertions. A non-original assertion is any information you obtained from a source. Please also use the APA resources
