According to Chapter 8 in the textbook, assessment is used to gather information to create a coherent picture of the client. Identify how the client in the selected video is functioning within the various types in intrapersonal systems. Explain why it is important for a case manager to interpret the meaning of various client functions when developing a treatment plan.

3- Using the Solution-building question, “Scaling the problem” (Chapter 8, p. 196) what is an example you could ask a client to scale?

 Example: “What is the severity of your depressed mood on a scale of 0 to 10? (0 meaning none, 10 meaning worse ever).”

 What would this give you a better assessment of?

 Example: This would help me to get a sense of how severe the client sees his or her depression at a quick glance. It opens up an opportunity to ask her/him in their own words why it is so high, or so low, or whatever is the case.
