Assessment Task No 2 (Group Presentation and Report)
Task description: This assignment (Weeks 10-11) involves students working in groups (4 students in a group). Each group is required to select and research on one leader from the list of leaders given below. Each group is required to make a presentation based upon their analysis of their selected leader in relation to the following leadership aspects given below. In addition, a group report has to be submitted via the Turnitin dropbox. Task Length: 1800-2000 words; the presentation slides, which
must also be submitted

Task Weight: 30% (20% for the Group Report and 10% for the Presentation)
Task Requirements:
1. Students are required to select ONE (1) of the following leaders and research on the group’s chosen leader.
● Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer of Facebook ● Bob Iger, CEO of Disney Corporation ● Jack Ma, Founder and CEO Alibaba Group ● Richard Branson, Founder and CEO of Virgin Group
If there is another leader that a group would like to research, please discuss with the lecturer. 2. Students are required to write a report on the group’s chosen leader. For the purpose of this task, the report needs to be written in the following format: i) Title page (on a new page)
ii) Executive Summary (180 - 200 words – not included in words count; on a new page)
a. Topic; purpose; main points; conclusions and recommendations
iii) Table of Contents (remember to include page numbers; on a new page) iv) Introduction (135 – 150 words) must include:
a. Provides brief background information. b. The purpose of the report c. An overview of the issues that you will discuss (scope/outline of the
report) d. State any limitations to the report, or assumptions made (if any)
vi. Background of the chosen leader (200 - 220 words): a. Who is the leader? b. A brief background of the leader c. A brief background of the leader’s organisation d. A brief of the leader’s achievement in the past
vii. Leadership Skills and Managerial Skills (200 - 230 words) a. A brief discussion of the difference between management and
leadership viii.Leadership Style: (500 – 550 words)
a. Based on your research, what type of leader is your chosen leader (Transformational leader, servant leader, transactional leader or other types of leader that we have covered in this subject)?
b. Give a brief description of the characteristics of the leadership style which you have identified for your chosen leader.
c. Show evidences that your leader demonstrate these characteristics. ix. Emotional Intelligence (450 -500 words)
a. What is Emotional Intelligence? b. Why is Emotional Intelligence such an important aspect of effective
leadership? c. How does your chosen leader display emotional intelligence? Give
examples. ix) Conclusion (135 – 150 words)
a. Summary of the overall report. Remind your readers of your original purpose and write down what you found about the group’s chosen leader
x) List of References.
Use at least three (3) academic sources (at least one of the three has to be a journal) to support the argument. Students can use maximum of one journal article from the list of provided in the Subject Guide (page 18). The sources have to be accurately cited (using APA referencing style) in the report and on the powerpoint slides.
Students’ presentation skills will be assessed as part of this task. Each group is given a maximum of 15 minutes to make an oral presentation of the group’s chosen leader. The presentation should follow the format of the report:
● Introduction ● The background of the chosen leader ● Leadership Skills and Managerial Skills ● Leadership Style of the Group’s Chosen Leader ● Emotional Intelligence ● Conclusion
Criteria used to grade this task:
1. Explain how the concepts of management/HRM can be used to effectively discuss current issues in the modern organisation.
2. Identify environmental influences and determine their implications for managers and organisations
3. Demonstrate information literacy and report writing skills 4. Search for and use an academic journal article 5. Use and reference academic sources of information to support an
argument 6. Demonstrate effective presentation skills.
