Assessment information: Literature Review Task (35%)

· This is an individual assessment that consists of a 1000-word analysis (+/- 10%) of relevant academic literature. This assessment builds on the first assessment and requires that you further develop your understanding of the same social issue/challenge at a community level that you presented upon in Week 3 as part of the group.

· To pass this assignment, you will need to engage with four academic readings, including the one that you used for your group presentation.

. NOTE: Each group member should have a different set of readings for the literature review, except for the first reading – the reading that the group used in Week 3 presentation. It is your responsibility to check that no reading is used twice within the group.

. NOTE: Even though all the group members will use the same first reading, each of you should write their own summary of it, using their own words and delivering their own analysis of the argument of the paper. We discourage you from copy-pasting directly from the Power Point slides you used in Week 3. Instead, we recommend that each of you goes through the reading again and writes its analysis afresh.

· For this literature review, you can use only academic readings (peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters) and government or community organisation reports.For each reading, provide a summary of the key points of the argument and critically discuss its relevance to the community project you are developing with your group.When formatting your literature review, you should follow Western Sydney University Harvard referencing style and provide a full referencing entry for each reading as well as in-text citations for all quotations and paraphrases.

. If you are unsure whether a reading you found qualifies under these criteria, we encourage you to discuss it with your teacher.

·

· Please note that one of the readings in your literature review should consider the social issue from a professional perspective (ie., from the point of view of your future profession):We recommend that you choose readings that apply a community approach to the social issue at hand and provide examples of successful community-based initiatives others have employed to resolve it. This will assist you with developing your community project website.

. Examples of article titles: “Youth truancy in community policing” (if you choose Policing or Criminal Justice as your professional perspective);

. “Psychological help to victims of bullying” (if you choose Psychology as your professional perspective).
