ABAS II – Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (2nd edition)

Three major functioning areas of daily living skills are assessed including conceptual, social, practical. The main purpose of this assessment is to measure adaptive behavior skills and the capacity to live independently.

Adaptive behavior rating scales of 10 areas

Questionnaire using 4-point Likert type scale.

15 to 20 minutes

Birth-89 years old

Five ABAS-II forms are used for different age groups by different raters, pencil would be needed; also, computerized tests are also available.

Examiner must be trained in standardized psychological and educational assessments; paraprofessionals may be trained to administer the test.

Hand scoring although there is software available to score it instead and track progress

High degree of internal consistency (.98-.99)
