Question 1: What is your understanding of leadership?
It is really hard to give a correct definition of leadership. We all have different answers to that because we all come from different families. In the family, leadership means I must listen to my parents, even sometimes it is not my will. If we talk about leadership from a bigger side. A leader should have the ability to lead a country, a company, a group of people and can make it a better place. I want to explain it from two sides. First, a good leader can help us solve the problem and give a better suggestion. A good leader should have influence and if the leader decides to do something and no one follows it. That will be a bad example of leadership. Secondly, a good leader should care about subordinates. If the leader only cares about himself/herself. That group or organization will disband someday. We always say a good leader should be a good listener, if the leader doesn’t understand what people want, people won’t trust the leader, and the team will not focus on the same goal. I think that is my definition of leadership and I want to see how my classmates answer this question.

Question 1
I believe that my definition of leadership has not changed that much, but I think what I have been learning has helped me refine my definition of leadership. I think that leadership is the ability to have social influence over people towards the achievement of a certain goal. I also feel that leadership is the ability to help oneself and other people to try and do the right things. Leadership is about setting the direction that is right and that others can follow, having the ability to build the vision and the ability to inspire others to see that vision, and having the ability to create something new. I think that leadership is not something that we learn. I rather think that leadership is something that someone is born with because I have seen people in my life that seem to be having leadership values naturally like the ability to inspire and motivate people to see and believe things that they would otherwise not have believed or seen, they have that ability to create a vision and inspire people to see that future visions, and these individuals that have leadership qualities in them tend to be the ones to suggest solutions to problems in a group or team settings.
