You are asked to write an applied essay

A critical evaluation of the Healthy Ireland Framework 2019-2025 from a social justice perspective.

This is an opportunity to evaluate the various theories about social justice you encounter during this module, and to develop your own reading around the themes you select, and to critically apply them to the the current field of social care in Ireland.

social justice in Ireland. Therefore, issues related to the social care professions that might be relevant.

Essay Structure:
A good essay will cover these four elements on the right
1.Detail your understanding of social justice in the context of your topic.
Recall and state information about general theories of social justice both in history and
contemporary practice. Distinguish between the different understandings of justice, and
explain why you believe your outlook is important.
2. Set out the basic facts about your area of study. If it is on a theoretical position give
a rounded portrait of the ideas and themes. Identify key concepts and positions. In a
balanced way, list the main debates for and against the issue or theme.
3. Illustrate the issues possibly by looking at a case study used in some of the reports
from an Irish NGO or voluntary organisation or one from the social care
professions. Consider and detail the conditions they address and discuss in the context of
social justice concerns.
4. Evaluate what you have learned and offer some criticism from a social justice stand
point (fairness, equality, and the human rights issues etc). Give your critique of the issue or
concern you are addressing; evaluate the argument on its merits, and offer alternatives.
Support your argument from your reading and research.
Briefly formulate and propose a way forward on the basis of what you have learned.
