Global Health Policy

In this paper, you are asked to identify one Global Health policy or program and provide specific details including: who is involved; what it is supposed to address; why this topic is important; how the policy or program is supposed to work; and the metrics used to measure success. You may choose any global health policy or program except the major examples that we have used in class, including: Gates Foundation, Primary Health Care, or the Millennium and Sustainable Development Goals. You may focus on other policies or programs that are created by multinational organizations (such as the UN), collaborations between different organizations or individuals (such as GAVI or The Global Fund), national governments, or non-state actors (philanthropies, academic institutes, non-governmental organizations, etc.). The policy or program can be current or historical (please keep it post-World War II).

You are required to use at least three sources (websites, articles, documentaries, etc.) outside of class material and include citations of these sources in a bibliography.

Questions 3-7 of the assignment should be at least one paragraph (approximately 300 words).

Assignments must be submitted as .doc or .pdf formats.

3. What issue does the policy or program focus on or attempt to solve, and why is it a priority?

4. Where and how does the policy or program work? Make sure to discuss what the underlying philosophy or strategy underlying the program is. For example, how does it achieve what it intends to do and what are the values, theories, or justifications for that approach?

5. What metrics does the policy or program use to measure success? How does it know if it is having an impact and what are the variables that indicate success?

6. What are the potential strengths of the policy or program for addressing health issues?

7. What are the potential limitations of the policy or program for addressing health issues?
