All Students Actively Participating (A.S.A.P.) Checklist Instructions

This checklist learning activity is designed to initiate a connected, collaborative, cumulative learning process. Do not over think this learning activity. Get into action as soon as possible. The student uses the checklist to report completion of five tasks:

1. Subscription to Question & Answer Center;

2. Completion of an audio/video Class Introduction (via smart phone, Jing, YouTube, narrated power point, I-Movie, or other audio/video software);

3. Completion of Week 1 Readings and short answer questions in Masterpiece;

4. Completion of “My Masterpiece Moment”; and

5. Selection of a predetermined care-seeker from the course’s case study. DO NOT check-off tasks until all have been completed.

The student checks boxes AFTER ALL tasks have been completed. In other words, DO NOT check any boxes UNTIL all 5 tasks have been completed. 75 pts will appear in My Grades after instructor posts the grade.

Be a wise active participant in Week 1. Consider completing these tasks as follows:

· Task #1 - Monday;

· Task #2 - Wednesday;

· Task #3 - Thursday;

· Task #4 - Friday;

· Task #5 - Saturday.

· Check boxes in the checklist after completion of Task #5.

Use the following instructions to complete each step in the process.

Task #1: Subscription to the Question & Answer Center (QAC)

Carefully read the Question & Answer Center instructions in the course menu link: see QAC & Meaning-Making Forums.

· Afterwards, click on Question & Answer Center. Under "Forum: Question & Answer Center" click on the Subscribe button. 

· A colored message bar should appear above "Forum: Question & Answer Center" with the phrase - "Success: Subscribed to Forum."

Task #2: Audio/Video Narrated Class Introduction

Introduce yourself to others in the course by posting an audio/video narrated picture containing the following information: 

· Where you live (state or country only)

· Family, hobbies/interests, and anything else you want to share about yourself

· Which specific degree you are pursuing

· Current job

· Your plan after this course (For example: How many courses to graduation? Do you plan to begin a new job as a result of your degree? Do you plan to continue your education towards a higher degree?)

· What you would like to learn from this course

The syllabus provides program links to build the self-narration. Consider the free download of Jing; works with PC and Mac. If Jing is unfamiliar, then use what is more familiar, such as, smart phone video, narrated ppt, YouTube, Snag-it, Camtasia, I-Movie, Kaltura, etc. The following samples were provided with permission made with Jing and I-Movie.

Task #3: Complete Week 1 Readings and Masterpiece Short Answer Questions

· Assigned readings are delineated in the Course Schedule and Week 1>Reading and Study.

· View presentations, complete all assigned textbook readings, lecture notes and websites.

· Type out your short answers in Masterpiece. Clear, concise responses should be provided to questions on pages 20-22; 40-42; 56-59; 77-79; and 91-93. These short answers should be submitted as an attached .docx to “My Masterpiece Moment” (see below).

Task #4: Post My Masterpiece Moment (MMM) as a thread in the Question & Answer Center

“My Masterpiece Moment” is a clear, convincing argument that you have engaged this timely read. The MMM should present 3 headings with clear, concise, and carefully proofread responses. Make sure responses noticeably relate to content in the book (i.e., cite pages) so that the most inattentive reader gets it!

Type your material on a .doc/.docx document and save it in at least 2 places. See student sample.

· What’s this? (relates to something heard for the first time)

· So What?! (relates to something affirming, convincing and/or convicting)

· What’s Best Next?? (relates to attitudes and/or actions that must cut-out, corrected, commenced or continued)

The following bullets explain how to post the MMM and attach the Masterpiece short answers.

· Click on the Question & Answer Center link, then click on Create Thread.

· Type in the Subject box: My Masterpiece Moment

· After copying My Masterpiece Moment, place your cursor in the Message box and use Control + V to paste your material into the box. Do not click Submit yet.

· Before clicking Submit, move cursor to the bottom of the Thread and upload your Short Answers .docx file via the Paper Clip icon in the tool bar.

· Click Submit, count it all joy, and move on to the last task!

Task #5: Select a Predetermined Care-seeker from the Crossroads Case Study

· Download the Lecture Note: Case Study in Week 1>Reading and Study.

· Peruse the Case Study and engage all websites.

· Choose one of 5 care-seekers in the Murakami family’s tragic experience portrayed in the Hallmark Movie “Crossroads: A Story of Forgiveness” (Bruce, Josh, Brody, Melissa, Justin). You are not asked to provide the name at this; only confirm that you have chosen a care-seeker.

· Plan to integrate this care-seeker into subsequent learning activities.

After selecting a Predetermined Care-seeker, check-off ALL tasks in the A.S.A.P. Checklist in Week 1 Assignments and celebrate the completion of Week 1 expectations.
