Discuss the major characteristics of the art movements—and some of the artists and their works—from Fauvism through Dada. Demonstrate your understanding of social function, formal analysis, iconography, and the coherent formulation of a longer essay that shows you now have an understanding and appreciation of art history. This paper requires you to go well beyond a simple repeating of the facts, or even the intermediate thought processes involved in a simple thinking problem. It requires you to engage in serious analysis and original thought. 

I repeat: make sure to  discuss and analyze specific works of art in developing your essay. Do not mention the characteristics of each style and then list works of art and architecture as examples.

Use all of the tools you've used in the course. And, let yourself think independently in developing your answer, which you can frame as a set of ideas, a thesis, an intelligent narrative or your way of conceiving the problem at hand. 

As always, cite specific examples. And, yes, you may use examples from the previous modules to make your point. 

Requirements and Guidelines

· Your paper should be a minimum of 7 ½ pages not including the reference list. This length is necessary to present the kind of detailed analysis required for this assignment.

· Your paper should include a bibliography of at least three academic (not amateur or tourist) sources (not including the assigned texts).
