Artificial intelligence

This is the field of computer science which involves the creation of intelligent systems which behave like the humans in bringing significant developments in the recent past. Therefore artificial intelligence in education has started being valued as it tailors the learning experience to the learners (Collins & Halverson, 2018). Artificial intelligence is now becoming part of our ordinary lives since our surrounding has been manipulated and occupied entirely by the technological and automatic parking systems, sensors for the taking of the personal assistance and also the spectacular photos. Likewise, artificial intelligence in education learning has been felt among the communities, and the traditional methods have started shifting significantly (Lesgold, 2019). Through the influence of artificial intelligence, the academic world has become one of the most personalized and convenient ways since educational materials have become more accessible through the use of computers and smart devices. AI has also allowed for the automation of the administrative tasks and even in allowing the institutions in, minimizing the available time to the educators can spend time and resources with the students.

The idea of implementing artificial intelligence into the educational systems is not only a good idea but also a bad idea thus making it quite controversial. Though there are worries of applying artificial intelligence into education, the fear is that the AI will take over the instructors’ jobs thus leaving the teachers jobless and therefore cutting the components off the education sector entirely. However, the Artificial intelligence technology is rendering the teachers not easily replaceable since the colleges and other academic institutions still need tutors since they provide additional skills such as socialization skills, teamwork and also how to work efficiently with a team. These skills are vital for students, and that’s why the teachers will also be required in helping the students, adding emotions to the learning process and also building the social skills (Russell & Norvig, 2016). Therefore the implementation of the Artificial intelligence in the school’s curriculum systems should not seek to culminate the teachers but provide them with enough time to for them to concentrate on the performance of their learners and also establish a connection with every learner thus improving the learning atmosphere in the class.

The Significance/merits of Artificial Intelligence in education.

Artificial intelligence has several contributions to learning and teaching and also the education sector (Salehi et al., 2015). The inputs include;

Simplification of the administrative tasks -Artificial intelligence technology automates the expeditions of the executive and the managerial duties for the academic institutions and also teachers. Since the educators spend more time in the grading, assessing of assignments and also providing valuable responses to students, AI therefore when used it automatically grades tasks and also allows for the processing and classification of the paper works.

Improved engagement-Artificial intelligence technology integrates lessons the students are expected to have more interest in it. Therefore technology provides a different opportunity in making the learning to be more fun and enjoyable in the teaching of the new ideologies.

Artificial intelligence encourages collaboration between students and teachers or instructors. - Students practice collaboration skills in getting involved in different technological activities. For example, students working on various projects can collaborate and ensure that they share documents in their forums despite their virtual learning environments.

Enables students to learn useful life skills through technological interaction-The use of artificial intelligence technology in the classroom by both the teacher and the learners develop essential skills which they will need to succeed in the future. It also helps in developing practical skills such as learning to distinguish between reliable and unreliable data sources and even in maintaining proper online writing of emails and also etiquette.

Drawbacks/demerits of artificial intelligence technology on education

Despite artificial intelligence technology being compelling in the educational sector, it allows the learners to get better and also learn if only there are human instructors who are guiding them through the program and the systems (Salehi et al., 2015). AI involves the use of machines, and therefore these machines are subject to information loss due to failure to re-input the information, and also the devices are prone to breakage anytime.

The incorporation of artificial intelligence could lead to unemployment since the learning and teaching activities have been incorporated into the machines; thus the need for tutors and teachers would reduce in the classroom thus rendering them jobless. AI does not face to face interaction with the tutors. Therefore it cannot replace the personal interaction since they cannot communicate with students though they can predict and give the information required by the learners.

In conclusion, education has always been the transfer of knowledge in a systematic, deliberate, valid and comprehensive way. Therefore the incorporation of AI will not change this transfer but rather improve the means through which these systems will enhance the learning process (Collins, & Halverson, 2018). Therefore future implications of the AI is that there will be a wide range of tools available and also an outstanding amount of information that is generated from a variety of sources thus enhancing both the learning and teaching activities and also the reliance of calculators, books and catalogs.
