Abstract

The use of technology in education has been documented for over three decades. Technology can be integrated with education to realize better outcomes for the learners. Teachers have to develop ICT skills to enable them to interact with the learners and transfer knowledge. The implementation of IT gadget knowledge such as computers and other related devices is a skill that requires development. IT gadgets are currently being used in classrooms to facilitate the learning process. Teachers require skills in using these gadgets to improve the chances of sharing and transferring knowledge. They can leverage artifacts like journal articles, scholarly works, and books.

Content Knowledge

One of the areas identified in the Content Competency Development Plan that requires improvement is implementing IT gadget knowledge such as computers and other related devices. Technology has changed the education industry in different ways, and all tutors have to embrace technology. This is considered a digital era where ICT is used in classrooms to allow students to learn and apply their skills (Ghavifekr et al., 2016). The implementation of IT gadget knowledge is paramount during the teaching process. Developing in this area will increase student interaction and sharing and transferring knowledge to the students.

When developing a skill, it is essential to look at the challenges associated with the skill. This allows one to come up with solutions that will be effective when using the skill. The journal article by Johnson et al. (2016) looks at the various challenges in using technology in the classroom. The article provides the necessary guidance on using technology by showing the challenges and giving solutions to the challenges. This artifact has been essential in developing ICT skills. The use of study groups as an activity has been effective in developing the relevant skills.

Understanding the areas of weakness and being able to develop in those areas is an important step. It resonates with the bible scripture that looks at finding solutions to problems. The scripture “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you" (King James 2017, Mathew 7:7). The biblical reference can be applied in my practice where the teacher has to find solutions to the problems. This includes asking for help when necessary to find the solution to the teacher's problems.
