Artifact Analysis

While human beings know that maintaining the body is very vital if we want to live longer in this world, often how we treat the body does not translate to us respecting it. There are many bad habits that human beings engage in that they know very well is harmful to their bodies, but they proceed to do it anyway. Almost everyone knows that drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes is harmful to their health, but they still find the need to do it. The video “A message from your Body” produced by Prince Ea is meant to remind people of how valuable their bodies are. The video starts by showing how we are accustomed to treating the body with the fewer acres as if we do not know how valuable the body is to us. Human beings are so taken by the need to become successful that they sacrifice the body for money. The question that the Prince Ea asks is “is it worth it?” from the video, it becomes very clear that it is high time that we should give the body the respect it deserves, and proceed to treat it in the best way possible.

Prince Ea, the producer of the video, is popularly known for his motivational videos that he started back in 2014 after quitting his singing career. His videos dealing with race, protecting the environment, balancing work life, and humanity are so positively received that they have ended up receiving over one billion views on YouTube alone. It is not surprising that Prince Eawhose real name is Richard Williams has become a household name figure where he shares his inspiring message as an artist through music, spoken word, and online film. In the video, “A Message from your Body” Prince Ea himself is not featured in the pictures as he only chose to use his voice to tell the story. He also artistically uses pictures of other people and animals to add the emotional connection to his storyline.

From the video, Prince Eva reminds us how the majority of us are always spending a lot of our times working with an equal number choosing to invest their time to smoke cigarettes after work or choosing to drink alcohol. In all those activities, the body is on the receiving end were at no time do we spare time to take of the body. This is in line with (Kyla 1) observation that so many people nowadays tend to overlook the all-import aspect of self-love due to their daily activities. In the video, Prince Ea shows us how we are busy with our work that we even prefer to eat junk food as we have no time to eat real food. Such actions are not in any way a show of love for one body. (Bowman 114) Also weighs in on the matter where he points out that while we know that fast food has negative effects on our bodies, we are so careless that we do not mind anymore. In the video, this aspect comes out very clearly that no one can even deny the new trend that we have adopted. (Rail, Kevin) the observation that smoking and alcohol drinking only proceed to impact the body negatively where sometimes it becomes life-threatening is also a key point to note here as it leads to various diseases such as cancer and blood pressure.

But in more convincing way, Prince Ea relies upon the use of rhetorical questions to compel the viewer to resonate with his message. At the very beginning of the clip, Prince Ea when asking the viewers to think of a situation that they have a horse that is worth one million dollars, he asks some rhetorical questions about the horse. At one point he asks, “Would you let the horse drink alcohol?”(Prince Ea). At this point I even found myself responding “no.” He also asks if one can let the hoarse stay all night and smoke cigarettes. Prince Ea use of the rhetorical questions is so powerful that it not only has a way of ensuring that the viewer follows along with his intended message but also has a way of evoking deeper emotions. As soon as he has given the example of a horse and how we would not allow it to make most of the unwanted habits, he gives the example of a $20 dog and a 2$ cat. He still proceeds to use rhetorical questions to build the premise that we cannot allow the valuable pets to drink alcohol, smoke, or even stay up all night. Does he shift his attention to asking the viewers why when they treat the body like that? To ensure that the viewers can resonate with his message, he shows a picture of a fat man holding his protruding belly while posing the question.

Prince Ea artistically uses his voice as a way of speaking for the body which is trying to ask the hard question. The intention here is to ask the viewers to try and listen to their inner voice where they would proceed to see that all their actions are negatively impacting the body that the so dearly need. The whole video proceeds to use personification as a person writing a letter to use airing its complaints. The body is complaining that you always try to make it look good when you are taking pictures to be posted on social media when we do very little to enhance it. At the same time, you will try to make it look perfect, but during other time, you do not care about your body but taking it for granted and not even saying thanks or be grateful for your body. The body is equally complaining to use that it has been very disappointed with it has been seeing over the years where you have allowed your ambition of making money to come first at the expense of taking of the body.

Prince Ea also uses irony to remind the viewers of how vital the body is where he tells the viewer to spare time to thank all your body as one. At this time it becomes ironical that we know how important all parts of our bodies are, we never really cherish what our bodies do for us which is indeed true. For the good things that have done for you, it is time to sit back and thank your every part of your body. This is the best moment that you should start treating it well so that you won’t pay back in your later life. It is a high time that we should stop doing things that we know very well is negatively impacting the body for short time achievements that would not be worth it in the long run.

In a more appealing form, the video directs you to place your hands on the chest, listens to your heartbeats, and remembers to say thank you to your heart beats. You then look to every other part; arms you use for climbing, lungs that are helpful in breathing, head for the memory storage, and every other part that are useful for daily activities. It is that juncture that you should appreciate the role that each part of the body plays in making sure that you get through the day with much ease. It is time to treat your body what it worth. You know how precious the body is and it worth much. In the clip, we see a woman running and having the training attire that merely shows how we should treat our bodies with much appreciation. We should go for training to strengthen and maintain fit our bodies. We should take our bodies as the most crucial thing more than any other thing. Prince Ea also resorts back to the use of rhetorical questions where he asks if one can accept one million dollars in exchange for their eyesight. It becomes apparent that no sane person will agree. As such, he reminds us that we should give the body the credit it deserves and take care of it in the best way possible.

In the video, Prince also uses a sadistic tone when showing how the body receives bad treatment. The sadistic tone shows the sad mood that the body is under when seeing the owner doing everything to impact it negatively when chasing their life ambitions. Prince Ea also resorts to the use of a serious tone when asking the viewers that it is the time that they should accord their bodies with better care as they rightfully deserve. In so doing, Prince Ea is counting on the fact that his message would be able to evoke deeper feelings from the viewers that would compel them to change their behaviors.

In conclusion, it becomes very clear that the body is the most critical asset that an individual has for as long as one lives in this world. This then means that they need to care of the asset to live a long and meaningful life. That would mean eating healthy and getting rid of all bad habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol. It is also equally very important that we should always be taking time from our busy schedule to appreciate the body for the vital role that it plays in our lives.
