Weekly Article Summary
This week article that I read is about a study conducted to determine on transferring theoretical knowledge and skills to clinical practice by learners specializing in nursing and the challenges faced by these nurse’s experience in their learning journey (Günay & Kılınç, 2018). The background of the study was that there is a close correlation between the learning environment and the quality of training that nurses receive. This correlation means that transferring theoretical skills into clinical practice, a fundamental aspect of medical training, is influenced by the quality of training.
The study was conducted through the qualitative research design approach. The study took place in the East University of Turkey, and it had thirty participants. All the participants were nursing students who were examined using interviews and questionaries. Some of the questions channeled to the participants included how a person evaluates oneself when incorporating theoretical skills and knowledge into clinical practice? The person thought on physical training. What kind of difficulty does one face in medical practice? (Günay & Kılınç, 2018). Data were analyzed using the content analysis method. According to the study, many nursing trainees indicated that the burden of excessive study content hindered their ability to convert theoretical knowledge to clinical practices. The study concluded that nursing stakeholders should cultivate collaboration to increase academic knowledge transfer to clinical practices. The research was conducted on a genuine desire to better the quality of healthcare outcomes. Thus, the study is essential in nursing and healthcare.
