Article Summary 4
The article by Shu Li, Meijuan Cao, and Zhu (2019) is a systematic review of the attitudes, knowledge, execution, barriers and facilitators among community nurses. The evidence-based practice has been adopted broadly, but the attitudes, knowledge, and execution of evidence-based practice among community nurses and the barriers and facilitators they discern have not to be confirmed precisely. This research article's main focus is on summarizing the status of attitudes, facilitator, knowledge, implementation and evidence-based practice barriers in community nurses. The authors also manage to provide a precise description of their findings after collecting research data. The researchers reviewed the nursing leadership importance in evidence-based practice, barriers, facilitators in guidelines, the readiness of EBP state and strategies for implementing EPB. As stated in the article, the study aims to answer the questions concerning the status of attitude, knowledge, and EBP execution in community nurses globally.
Another question is on what facilitators and barricades affect evidence-based practice implementation of community nurses. This study is a descriptive research type since it focuses on answering the questions but not the why. On the other hand, the preliminary results indicated that the community nurses had a positive attitude toward evidence-based practice, though insufficient knowledge and unprepared implementation according to Hannah (2017). In conclusion, from the arguments above, it is evident that there is a need for improving knowledge, and evidence-based practice should be implemented in community nurses compared with better attitudes. The research article also provides a systematic finding that shows a compelling need for improving knowledge and implementing evidence-based practice. According to the findings, the only way to deal with the issue is through numerous teaching approaches like small group exercise, literature search, article review, critique, scenario simulation training and case studies that are promising in improving EBP beliefs and knowledge.
