Content - Step 2:

Locating a Source

18 to 20 points

The student correctly selects a database from the library, uses appropriate search terms/techniques to refine the search, selects an article and explains its relevance to the topic, copies and pastes the permalink to the full-text article and provides title of article and journal.

14 to 17 points

All questions are answered, but responses may be lacking detail or relevance. Link is posted but does not work.

1 to 13 points

Information is missing or inaccurate. Responses lack clarity and detail.

Content - Step 3: Evaluating the Article

18 to 20 points

The student correctly evaluates and explains the currency of the article, determines and justifies the author’s credibility, evaluates and explains the scholarly nature of the article by looking at style, references, peer review and objectivity.

All questions are answered but the student provides inaccurate information for a few of the components. Responses may lack detail and justification.

Responses are missing information and/or lack accuracy and supporting details.

Format - Step 4: Using the Article

18 to 20 points

The student correctly uses current APA format to create an in-text citation for a quotation from the selected article and creates a properly formatted APA reference entry for the selected article.

14 to 17 points

All questions are answered accurately, but APA entry or citations may be missing some formatting details.

Information is missing or inaccurate. APA entry and citations lack attention to proper formatting.
