Architecture Report
This document is a detailed report providing the architectural review of the Student Management Program System (SMPS). The SMPS will be architected using a Client-Server architecture design.
Client Side
For the Client side, users would be accessing the system online. Users would be accessing the system via web browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox 10 as the system is designed to function. There is a potential that the new system would be integrated to other existing systems with the universities IT infrastructure but would be a standalone system.
Server Side
The SMPS will be hosted on an application server supporting Windows, Linux, and Mac client operating system. For the Database, MySQL will be utilized as the database server. The database server passwords will be encrypted and will utilize transactions for all database commits.
Security
The SMPS would incorporate security and integrity controls managed by the university’s IT department. The controls are to ensure that the systems and the data it would hold are adequately protected.
For access control, users will be assigned an authorization level and permissions with which they will operate. User activity would be logged for audit and monitoring purposes. To ensure availability of the system and its data, the database will be backed up in accordance with the universities IT policies.
Availability/Reliability
For the system to be reliable, the system will be testing before deployment. Unit, integration, and system testing can be performed.
