APSM 4372 – Class Project Promoter’s Guide

Instructions For this assignment you will be comparing and contrasting three Promoter’s Guides from three different venues. Identify similarities and differences in what each venue publishes to sell its venue to the promoters. Identify which presentation style you like best and why. Try to create some commonality in the venues you select - three venues in the same part of the country that a promoter would be evaluating to determine to which venue to take their show; three different types of venues in the same town, a stadium, an arena and a theater, etc. If appropriate for your analysis, try to make one of your venues associated with a university, as universities create a different set of circumstances with which promoters have to deal. If the Promoter’s Guide page for a venue you select has multiple documents (examples: Booking, Facility Information, Media Information, Technical Specifications, Community Information, etc.) use all of these documents as this venue’s Promoter’s Guide. You are NOT reviewing Guest Guides, A to Z Guides, etc. which are guides for visitors to better understand Guest Services. You are reviewing the Promoters’ Guides, which share technical and business information for booking shows at the venue. Try to not select more than one venue from the same management company (ex. – Global Spectrum, Comcast Spectacor is the same company and they have recently changed names, so make sure you have different management companies). This may not be possible, but getting different companies presentation styles would be a better review than the specifics of three venues run by the same management company. In your paper, provide me with the web address of each of your venues, so I can see your source documents as I am reviewing your paper. In a couple of weeks, we will actually be turning in the source documents to ensure you are actually looking at Promoters’ Guides. That deadline will be shared with the class in class.
