- Lie at right angles to each other
- Sagittal plane
- Frontal (coronal) plane
- Transverse (horizontal) plane

- Sagittal plane
- Divides body vertically into right and left parts
- Produces a sagittal section if cut along this plane
- Midsagittal (median) plane
- Lies on midline
