Instructions Pick two questions to write essays on from the 3 questions listed below. Each essay will be worth 50 points and the total for the two essays is 100 points. There in a single bonus question that is worth 20 points. Question 1 Explain in detail the 3 postural control strategies. In addition, provide examples of specific scenarios in which each of the 3 postural control strategies may be used. Be sure to be detailed in your response and the use of peer-reviewed research is encouraged to help support your answer. Question 2 Explain and describe the three different afferent systems that are utilized during postural control. Be sure to provide specifics of each system and what they provide to maintain postural stability. Additionally, explain a specific case (e.g. injury, disorder, disease) in which one or more of the three different afferent systems may be compromised and how it would influence postural stability. Please be sure to specifically state the case you are presenting. The use of peer-reviewed research is encouraged to help support your answer. Question 3 Explain and describe the concept of sensory re-weighting. Why is sensory re-weighting necessary in order to maintain postural stability? List and describe at least 3 unique scenarios in which sensory re-weighting is necessary and why it is important in order to maintain postural stability in the 3 unique scenarios you’ve selected. These scenarios can be anything (e.g. environmental conditions, injury, disease, disorder, occupation, etc.). The use of peer-reviewed research is encouraged to help support your answer. Bonus Question In order to receive full credit for this bonus question, please explain in great detail the entire process of reciprocal inhibition. For those of you interested in the clinical side of exercise science, provide an example on how reciprocal inhibition may be used to assess different types of clinical conditions. For those of you interested in the sports performance side of exercise science, provide an example on how reciprocal inhibition may be used to enhance sports performance.
